As one of my followers put it, I'm a modern-day "MacGyver" with skills in engineering, graphic design, sound recording, carpentry, electrical work, photography, video editing, and history. Non Stick Mower
Make Your Mower Deck, Non-stick! - The Ultimate Protection
www.slipplate.com/product/slip-plate-no-1-dry-graphite-lubricant
• "The secret behind this solution is a high-concentration friction-fighting graphite, combined with a proprietary binder system. This formula creates a long-lasting dry lubrication, perfect for heavy loads. When applied and dried, it forms a dry anti-friction graphite coating that won't attract dust, dirt, mud, or grit, unlike greases and oils. It's naturally hydrophobic, so it provides long-lasting protection from rain, snow, and mud, helping to prevent rust and corrosion."
• "This Kubota, mid mount mower. even used, is quite expensive. don’t want it to wear out prematurely. This deck maintenance will keep it running for years to come."
• "Before we get to applying the product, remember, preparation is the key to making any coating last. So here are my 10 essential steps for the best results."
Step 1: Removing Loose Debris
• "First, remove any loose dry debris. Take off the blades and scrape off any residue with a putty knife."
• "Step 2 Power wash to get rid of even more [00:01:00] build-up.
It's also a great time to change the gearbox oil, which I find easier with the deck standing on its edge."
• To refill, lay the deck flat
when you see oil coming from the overflow, its full.
• "Step 3 involves using a wire brush in a drill to tackle tough build-up and rust spots.
Then, I use an orbital sander to smooth out the surface."
i don't need to remove the paint, just anything that will prevent the finish from sticking.
Step 4: "Clean up all dust with a vacuum and compressed air "
Step 5: "Inspect the surfaces to be painted. If there's still loose or chipping paint, repeat Steps 3 and 4."
Step 6: its important to Mix well. "Now, let's get to the star of the show. The Slip Plate number one. see link in the description. Mix it thoroughly for at least 15 minutes until it looks like a sparkly pudding mixture."
Step 7: brush on an even coat. I used a disposable brush. It dries to the touch in just 30 minutes. they do make this in a spray can, but i want a thicker application, so a brush works good for me.
Step 8: sand with fine sandpaper to smooth [00:02:00] out any ridges or drips. You'll notice it turns shiny and incredibly smooth."
Step 9: Repeat Steps 7 and 8 for a second coat.
the final step is to clean and sharpen the blades, reassemble the deck.
grease all fittings.
Install the deck and let’s try it out.
The is a wet part of the yard and the grass is about 4” here. I’m using a roller to flatten out some of the ruts made by the wheels. I haven’t mowed here in a few weeks because it’s been too wet. This should be a good test. Mowing in the fall is also a good test. Mowing in the fall can be harsh on the mower with leaves and sticks.
I use compressed air to clean the top of the deck. keeping the deck dry is important. Let's see how the Slip Plate holds up. The slip plate bonded well to the metal. There are very few spots with some grass and mud build but come right off. Keep in mind this wet muddy grass would stick to polished glass so overall I’m impressed with the slip plate’s performance. This is not a sponsored video and is just my review of this product. I’m thinking of trying it inside my backhoe bucket to keep the mud from sticking.
